<p class="Paragraph">After opening a <help:link Id="65820" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">master document</help:link> you can switch the Navigator between <help:link Id="67623" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Normal View</help:link> and Master View.<a name="ende"/></p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-id value="HID_NAVIGATOR_GLOB_TREELIST" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"/><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">In the display field, you will see a list of all entries in the master document.</help:help-text> In this list you can see, if the links to all shown partial documents exist. If you scroll with your mouse over a special entry, the path of the linked document <text:s text:c="" xmlns:text="http://openoffice.org/2000/text"/>will be displayed. For example, if an original document has been erased and it is not to be found in its original place, you will see the path and the <span class="T1">Document not found</span> notice.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">The master view in the Navigator does not show the <span class="T1">Open Documents</span> list box , and the number and type of icons vary:</p>

<p class="Paragraph">Click this icon to switch between the Master View and the <help:link Id="67623" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Normal View</help:link>.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Select an entry in the Navigator and click this icon to edit the contents.</help:help-text> If the selected entry is a file, the document will be opened for editing. If you select an index, the respective <help:link Id="67684" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">index dialog</help:link> appears, and if you select text, the cursor will jump to the corresponding text position.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Click this icon to open a submenu, where you can select the contents to be updated.</help:help-text> You may update selected contents, existing indexes, all links, or everything.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">This command in the context menu of an inserted document opens the <help:switch select="Program"><help:case select="WRITER"><help:link Id="67679"><span class="T1">Edit categories</span></help:link></help:case><help:default><span class="T1">Edit Categories</span></help:default></help:switch>dialog.</help:help-text></p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Click this icon to insert an index or an existing document into the master document.</help:help-text> The submenu displays the current selection. Files can also be inserted into the master document via Drag&Drop. For a <span class="T1">New Document</span>, enter the name and location of the new document in the dialog. It will <text:s text:c="" xmlns:text="http://openoffice.org/2000/text"/>be opened and you can edit and save it.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Opens the dialog to insert a file.</help:help-text></p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Click here to create a new document.</help:help-text> The <span class="T1">Save As</span> dialog appears first enabling you to enter a name and a location for thenew document.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Click here to position the cursor in the master document and enter your text.</help:help-text></p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">If you click this icon, the contents of linked files will also be saved in the master document.</help:help-text> This requires twice as much space, but the contents will be available even if the linked files can not be accessed.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">With this icon you can move the entry selected in the list box of the Navigator downward. </help:help-text> You can also use drag-and-drop to move it. If text ranges are moved next to one another then they are combined to form one text range.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Click this icon to shift upwards the selected entry in the selection box of the Navigator.</help:help-text> You can also move entries by dragging and dropping them. If text sections are shifted together, they will be put together as one text section.</p>
<p class="Paragraph"><help:help-text value="visible" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">Deletes the selected entry in the display field of the Navigator.</help:help-text></p>
